WORLD OF WORDS: Poetry Corner
It was just a day
like any other day.
The sun rose in the east
set in the west.
The tide went out
came in again.
People went to work,
children to school.
Shops opened in the morning,
closed in the evening.
Just another day,
an ordinary day
Until -
the bombs went off,
leaving no more days
like any other day
* * *
It was just a day
like any other day
Jets screamed over the city,
and back again.
Explosions everywhere,
people ran for shelter.
Shops were empty,
schools were closed.
Hospitals ran out of medicine.
and hid underground.
Just another day
of carnage and killing
Until -
Justice and Peace joined hands.
Then a new day dawned,
unlike any other day
