Bagelman, which has four stores in the city, will reward its customers who sign up to the new paperless loyalty card with free bagels.

The smartphone app allows customers to collect loyalty card points digitally, reducing the business’s paper use, and it will also allow customers to pre-order and pay with their phones.

Other initiatives from Bagelman that are focused on reducing the company’s environmental footprint include using fully compostable coffee cups, reducing the amount of packaging its goods are delivered in, and giving its leftover bread to Franklin Brewery, which turns it into a craft beer, ‘The Optimist’.
