Choirs’ choral concert
Choirs featured include The Rowland Singers (Worthing), Sussex Gruffs Male Voice Choir (Findon), Songbirds (Crawley), Gillingham MVC and the Royal Tunbridge Wells Orpheus MVC.
Andy Watson, of the Rowland Singers, said: “The songs are taken from stage and screen and as diverse as opera numbers by Verdi, a Gilbert & Sullivan medley, songs from musicals by Gershwin and Sondheim to songs from films such as Singin’ In The Rain and Titanic and also range from traditional ballads to a Beach Boys number. A joint finale including Sussex by the Sea, You’ll Never Walk Alone and Jerusalem is set to raise the roof!

The Rowland Singers are based in Worthing. There are about sixty singers in the choir, which was founded in November 1969 by Paul and Jacqueline Emery. The following year they performed their first carol concert in the Assembly Hall, Worthing. The choir celebrated its 40th anniversary in November 2009.
The choir prides itself on its varied repertoire. They sing carols at Christmas, oratorios and anthems at Easter, and show music, madrigals and popular songs in the summer. The Singers have been on several tours, both in England and abroad.
Sussex Gruffs MVC is a new male voice choir which sings for fun and to raise money for charities.

“If you ever fancy a good sing - why not come and see us at rehearsal. Previous experience in a choir is not required but an enthusiasm for singing is. It is Sir John Barborolli who is reputed to have said ‘If you can talk, you can sing’. We have shown that to be true.
“We meet every Tuesday evening at The Vale School, Vale Avenue, Findon Valley, Worthing, BN14 0DB at 7.30 pm. We invite you any Tuesday to Come and see - Come and Sing just to experience firsthand our choir at rehearsal - and to join in. We do not have auditions.”
