LETTER: Excellent work of many schools

What a misnomer! There were ten, possibly 11, independent schools featured, all of them excellent I’m sure, but their inclusion is not a lot of use to the vast majority of local parents who send their children to primary or secondary comprehensive schools near to where they live.
In any case, a large proportion of the independent schools’ intake isn’t from Sussex at all.

One College of Further and Higher Education was featured, plus a school in Surrey!
In defence of the magazine, there are some good articles on a variety of topics to do with education, but in my experience, many local comprehensive schools achieve the objectives often claimed solely by independent schools.
What local parents would find useful is a magazine (which could genuinely be called ‘Education for Sussex’) featuring the excellent comprehensive schools, such as Forest, Millais and Tanbridge House in Horsham as well as similar schools in Crawley, East Grinstead and elsewhere.
