Hide AdResidents in Horsham first reported hearing a night-time mystery ‘hum’ last year, some saying they had been hearing it ‘for years’ and others for just weeks.
But this week a low frequency hum which ‘continued day and night’ was reportedly heard in West Chiltington. And people in Storrington say they have heard it there too.
And in Pulborough, a resident took to social media saying he had heard a ‘weird intermittent hum’ in the early hours of the morning.
No-one seems to know what is causing the sound - described by some as ‘really annoying’ - but people have put forward several theories such as that it could be the noise from railway maintenance works, or sewage pumps.

Up to four per cent of people are said to hear the ‘global Hum’. Reports of the phenomenon were first made in the UK in the early 1970s.
