Roald Dahl day at Worthing nursery

Each room had its own theme, such as James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and The BFG. Special features included a chocolate fountain from the ceiling, a giant peach and bedroom of dreams. Donovan Bennett, two, said: “I’ve got the golden ticket so I can come into the special room.” Harry Stringer, three, noted: “The BFG does lots of stomping because that’s what giants do.” Staff and children dressed up as characters from the books and activities included sweet wrapper collages, dream blower trumpets, giant peaches, chocolate fluff pops and dream catcher sensory bottles. Kelly Goss, deputy manager at the Chesswood Avenue nursery, said: “The day was truly inspirational, simply just seeing the involvement of not only the children but also the staff. “The staff planned a variety of age-appropriate activities throughout the nursery and extended lots of learning throughout the week, based on the stories, leading up to Roald Dahl’s birthday. “Our Little Rascal parents showed extraordinary effort to make some amazing costumes for their children and the children arrived full of excitement after a week of preparation. “I have to say that by the time the big day arrived, the older children were very educated on the author and the structure of stories, including experiences of making their own stories, also the younger children knew their room’s stories and were using lots of props in their play. “I am very proud of all the staff at Little Rascals, the involvement of our Little Rascal parents and most of all our Little Rascal children.” Don’t miss out on all the latest breaking news where you live.
