Safety fencing vandalised at Hastings' Ecclesbourne Glen

Metal fencing to protect the public from an area of unsafe footpath at Ecclesbourne Glen has intentionally been cut.

Barriers were put in place by East Sussex County Council following continued slippage of the ground.

The county council has recently extended its footpath closure orders for a further 18 months as the land is still slipping.

Councillor Warren Davies, Hastings Borough Council’s lead member for environment, said: “Earlier this year the council installed a wooden post and rail barrier which regularly fell victim to criminal damage.
