Manager Danny Watts was pleased with how the new players had gelled with the older boys and praised Greg Forster for his performance in goal, which came despite him suffering a broken finger in the first half. Chichester’s second team made up for the previous weeks display with a 2-1 win at Canterbury after being 1-0 down.
Penalty duties were handed to Ford, who slotted home to square it at 1-1. The team battled for long periods of the second half and were rewarded with a sublime volley by Carrol to set up a nervous last 20 minutes.
Man of the match Stenning pulled off fine saves although a rare mistake left hearts in mouths until the ball was cleared of the line.
