After months of work Steyning Grammar School’s production of The Wedding Singer is about to hit the school stage.

Tickets are on sale for the musical comedy which takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up, and a wedding singer might just have been the coolest guy in the room.

The cast of 55 students, aged from 12-18, have had huge fun rehearsing this show.

Director Jan Hobson said: “This is such a great show for a big company. It has some challenging and colourful lead roles, but also lots of cameo roles that add richness to the production.

“It is a very funny show and this year’s cast includes some very talented comic actors - it is going to be a delight to watch.”

Lead boy Will Carey, who plays wedding singer Robbie Hart, said: “The Wedding Singer is one of the maddest shows I’ve ever been involved in. My role, Robbie Hart, has been great fun to discover and I can’t wait to bring him alive onstage for audiences in July.”

Katie Duke, who has now done six productions at Steyning, said: “The Wedding Singer is a vibrant, exciting musical that’s been a joy to be part of.
