US FOLK songwriter Anais Mitchell will be
playing a one-off concert for fans in Turners Hill this Saturday.
This is her third UK tour, during which she is doing just a handful of dates, including this special concert being promoted jointly by Acoustic Sussex and Turners Hill House Concerts.

Anaïs has a growing fan-base in the south of England, largely due to
her early appearances in the Acoustic Sussex programme and guest appearances on BBC Radio 2's Bob Harris programme.

She began writing songs at 17, recording her debut album, The Song They
Sang When Rome Fell aged just 18.

In 2003, The US Kerrville Folk Festival honoured her work with the prestigious New Folk Award.

After spending time in Cuba, a semester in the Middle East and some unexpected touring with a rock project called Circus Guy's Rock & Roll Revue, Anaïs released her acclaimed album, Hymn's for the Exiled.

Last year, she followed this with her current album, The Brightness, and at the same time wrote and performed a unique folk opera called
Hadestown.

Anais will be playing at The Ark in Turners Hill on Saturday, May 24 at 8pm.

Tickets priced £10 in advance (£12 on the door) are available online at
www.acousticsussex.or.uk or via telephone on (01342) 716975.
