ONE of the organisers of Never Mind Glastonbury says the event is the perfect opportunity for people to raise money while enjoying a night of local music.
And organisers reckon you can expect a sensational set at the Wingspan Club at the end of June.
Andy Jones helped set-up the concert with Mick O'Brien last summer and it was a storming success, raising nearly £2,000 for St Catherine's Hospice.
This year, they have the help of experienced musician Mike Dobie who is concentrating on the music side of the event which will see Angst, R18 featuring Dan Giles, Society and Dobie himself take to the stage.
Andy said: "There are a few people we know who had been affected by cancer and we had an idea to get a few local bands together to do something for a local charity.
"This is great because you are donating to a good cause and getting something back for your money.
"The funding for the event is minimal, the Wingspan doesn't charge us a penny, they get their money over the bar and they even donate some of that to St Catherine's Hospice as well."
Andy said that local bands came together last year to help put on the first gig, and they will again all be performing for nothing.
Mike Dobie has been organising the layout and set design for the event this year.
Andy added: "It's a great chance for bands to play with a professional set-up and to give the bands a lot more exposure.
"Last year it was like a Pink Floyd concert with the set-up.
"Mike has been an absolute star, he knows how to stage a show."
Never Mind Glastonbury takes place on Saturday June 28.
