Good money after bad

In the 1970s I voted not to be part of the then Common Market. The original idea put to the UK was that we would have a fair trading scheme with Europe and what should have been a level playing field. It turned out to be something of a green-eyed monster who then demanded that the UK adhere to what amounted to possibly hundreds of new ideas and laws put forward by an unelected chorum of what turned out to be extremely well salaried Members of The European Government. We are now instructed on almost every aspect of our lives in the UK and as I am sure we all know, many of these laws are not only impinging on our everyday lives but are causing great hardship to many in this country. We are told what our laws are to be, what amount of so-called refugees we must take in as immigrants etc, etc, that is putting so much pressure on schools, housing, employment, utilities and even the roads we travel on. We have had the ridiculous light bulb scam that now costs more to dispose of the inefficient things and more problems to make than ever before. At one time we even were instructed as to what size and shape our fruit and vegetables were to be hence the UK lost much of its orchards and other age old traditions. We are now beginning to realise that many everyday items are cheaper in Europe than they are here and even a so called British car can be found for less money elsewhere across the channel. Unfortunately we have a spineless short-sighted government, that seems to just go along with it all whilst making noises in protest that Brussels is not actually hearing. I am convinced that as soon as we leave if the hopes of many prevail, that despite all the protests that Europe will boycott us (doubtful scare mongering) we can still get on with life as many other countries do that are not in the EU. What I find so very strange is that the countries we are seemingly tied to are among many countries that Britain has been at war with within the last thousand years, and yet the ones we have been comrades to for many years we seem to have turned away from them to appease Europe. The UK Government seems not to know when to stop throwing good money after bad, much of this at the behest of our European masters who hold the purse strings of the UK, sadly not so tightly as to stop Britain slipping into a black hole of debt.
